Mateusz Klich and Crysencio Summerville to start as Marsch fights for job - Leeds United predicted XI v Liverpool

Jesse Marsch could be set to ring the changes again against Liverpool as he looks to cling to his job as Leeds United manager this weekend.

The Whites travel to Anfield on Saturday night (29 October) on the back of six defeats in eight and slipping into the relegation zone last week following defeat to Fulham at Elland Road.

Marsch has so far been backed by the board to turn it around but with pressure growing on his job, he is likely to make some big decisions on his team in order to correct their form and turn their fortunes around.

One man who won’t lose his place in the side is goalkeeper Illan Meslier, who made his 100th appearance last weekend and should arguably have done better for their opening goal.

But with little options behind him of a sufficient quality, it would catastrophic to drop him and he will start barring any fitness issues.

In defence Luke Ayling was given his first start of the season against Fulham but struggled, and summer signing Rasmus Kristensen should now have a firm grip on the starting position at right-back going forward.

The same can be said in the centre of defence for Diego Llorente, who is likely to return ahead of captain Liam Cooper to partner Robin Koch, who is one of the team’s standout performers this season.

Junior Firpo is yet to make a meaningful impact at Elland Road and fans were delighted to see Pascal Struijk in the side last week following a brief injury, but the Dutchman should keep his place here once again.

Tyler Adams was ruled out of the game last time around with an injury and it’s unclear if he will be fit to return, but Sam Greenwood struggled with the pace of the game and so the experienced Mateusz Klich should get a start.

The Polish international was a regular under Marcelo Bielsa but has lost his place under Marsch this season, but his defensive capabilities could free Marc Roca into a more attacking role and provide more balance to the side.

In attack there are plenty of options for Leeds to fiddle with, but Marsch is still likely to mostly go with what he knows and trusts.

Rodrigo got the opening goal last weekend and is the team’s top scorer, with most of his goals coming from that number ten position. He should start again, with pace surrounding him on the flanks.

Jack Harrison started the campaign in blistering form but Luis Sinisterra is more of a goal threat and player better right now, so he should get the nod on the left wing.

Brenden Aaronson has started every game this season but has gone off the boil recently, and Crysencio Summerville’s excellent performance as a sub last week should have earned him a run out from the start.

Up front Willy Gnonto and Joe Gelhardt will be forced to continue to wait for their chance, as Patrick Bamford is sure to lead the line once more now that he’s fit again.

Predicted Leeds XI v Liverpool: Meslier; Kristensen, Koch, Llorente, Struijk; Roca, Klich; Summerville, Rodrigo, Sinisterra; Bamford
