Leeds United target Rory Mahady confirms Celtic exit via Instagram, fans should be excited
The summer transfer window may be over but the incoming might not be over for Leeds United with one of their targets now clubless.
Goalkeeping sensation Rory Mahady had been a long-term target of the Whites over the summer, as reported by the Daily Mail [22 August, page 14], but no move materialised over the summer with Celtic keen to keep hold of him.
But the 16-year-old, who is already an Under-17 international with Scotland, confirmed via his Instagram page on 11 September that he had left the Hoops for good after nine years at the club.
“Today I have officially left Celtic,” Mahady said. “Just want to say a massive thank you to the players and staff for the last 9 years. It was a pleasure, wishing everyone the best of luck for the future.”
The 16-year-old has, understandably, not mentioned where he might be playing next but there was interest from Premier League giants Manchester City and Tottenham [Daily Record] so he won’t be short of options.
But if he chooses Elland Road over the Etihad and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium then Leeds United fans should be getting extremely excited about a potential superstar goalkeeper in their ranks.

Illan Meslier will have most likely left by the time Mahady, whose brother Luke plays for Raith Rovers in Scotland, will have reached a first-team level but that would be perfect for the Whites.
It is always beneficial to have a very good young goalkeeper somewhere in the squad because you just never know when one might be needed.
This could be one of the country’s most promising young talents and in a position where youngsters with high potential are hard to come by and with Brexit claiming down on overseas purchases, Leeds have to take advantage of this amazing opportunity.
In other Leeds United news, it will soon be time for these two Whites stalwarts to leave Elland Road for good as the Jesse Marsch revolution continues.
