Leeds United target Ismaila Sarr scores staggering Watford goal amid transfer speculation
Leeds United target Ismaila Sarr will have increased his price-tag and the interest around him after scoring a stunning long-range strike for Watford.
Foot Mercato reported on 2 August that the Senegal international was being courted by the Whites, and could be tempted by the move.
The report suggested that the Hornets have put a €35million [£29.5million] price on him, but after his wondergoal at West Brom on Monday night (8 August) that number is sure to have gone up, as will the number of teams who will look at singing him.
Early in the Championship clash at the Hawthorns the 24-year-old launched the opening goal in over David Button’s head, and had half the country raving about the quality of the strike, although he later missed a weak penalty.
United are targeting another attacker before the close of the transfer window, and after failing with Charles de Ketelaere they appear to have set their sights on Paris Saint-Germain’s Arnaud Kalimuendo.
But as yet that hasn’t got done, despite Luis Campos clearly preferring to sell the 20-year-old Frenchman.
Sarr is a versatile forward who can play in various positions across the front three, and Watford are planning to sell him [talkSPORT].
There could hardly be a more eye-catching audition to interest teams who want to bring him back to the Premier League than the goal he scored in the second tier.
If United have ambitions to bring him in they have almost certainly got a much tougher task on their hands now.
Sarr scored five goals in each of the past two top flight seasons before Watford were relegated, so despite the attention-grabbing nature of this goal he may not be the best use of what is likely to be an even higher chunk of money.
Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra are surely set to be the starting wingers, so unless Victor Orta wants to make that position a real strength, an out-and-out goalscorer, and a left-back would probably be more useful.
