Leeds United set to cause outrage among Leicester City fans after what happened at Elland Road

Leeds United moved to within just six points of Championship leaders Leicester City after their victory at Elland Road.

Connor Roberts, Archie Gray and Patrick Bamford all scored in the 3-1 win on Friday (23 February) after Wout Faes had netted for the visitors.

It really was a stunning comeback, with all of the home side’s goals coming within the last 10 minutes of the match in West Yorkshire.

The defeat could be very damaging for Leicester’s title hopes, with the Foxes having now lost two matches in a row after their defeat to Middlesbrough.

But the loss at Elland Road could now have wider implications, with Sky Sports reporting on Saturday (24 February) that the Foxes are now currently set to miss out on matching Reading’s Championship points record of 106.

The Royals clinched that stunning tally when they won the league back in 2005/06, with Leicester now on track to miss out on that total by just one point, based on their current average of 2.29 points per game.

Leeds United will enrage Leicester City fans

That will really infuriate Foxes fans, who would have loved to have been able to boast about being part of such an impressive record.

The bright side for Enzo Maresca and his players is that they remain on course to be promoted back to the Premier League, and are undoubtedly still in the driving seat thanks to their six-point lead at the top.

But the Foxes must overcome QPR next time out if they are to put an end to this blip and kill some of the momentum and belief at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, Gretar Steinsson has been hailed as one transfer flies under the radar at Elland Road.
