Leeds United raging as new PSR update emerges amid Leicester City points deduction
Leeds United will be raging after it emerged that Leicester City are set to be charged for breaching PSR rules but won’t face a points deduction this season.
The Foxes are due to release their financials for the 2022/23 season which saw them get relegated, and it’s expected that they will have exceeded the limit of £105m losses over a three-year period.
And according to Sky Sports News (7 March), the Premier League could now be set to formally charge them as early as next week.
Everton have already been charged and handed a six-point deduction on appeal, while the Toffees and Nottingham Forest are awaiting a new hearing for another charge before the end of the season.
But according to the report because Leicester were relegated and the rules changed after the end of last season, they do not apply for the Foxes despite the breaches taking place over the same period of time.
Leeds United suffering again
It was no shock that Leeds were the ones who suffered most from Everton’s case being delayed beyond the end of the season, with the six-point penalty meaning they would have been relegated instead.
However there is no reason for Leicester not to suffer the same fate this season, which would further strengthen Daniel Farke’s side’s case for automatic promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

It’s even suggested that Leicester could start next season with minus points due to the breach, regardless of whether they’re in the Premier League or the Championship. So if it can be implemented in a different division, then it must happen this season.
It’s a ridiculous loophole once again, and it’s Leeds who are the ones suffering for it for a second year in a row when they haven’t broken any rules while those around them constantly are.
