Leeds United predicted XI v Manchester United

Marcelo Bielsa is expected to name a familiar starting line-up for the first game of the season on Saturday when Leeds United take on rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Leeds’ transfer business has been limited this summer and their only first-team addition to the outfield, Junior Firpo, is unlikely to play due to injury.

According to LeedsLive, both the new left-back and centre-back Diego Llorente are doubts for the opening match of the campaign after missing the final two pre-season friendlies of the summer.

It is understood that there are some hopes that both Firpo and Llorente will be fit to play at Old Trafford, we don’t think Bielsa will take any risks with his starting line-up in a bid to get Leeds’ season up and running on a good note.

Illan Meslier is expected to start in goals behind a back-four of Luke Ayling, Robin Koch, Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas, who’s likely to get the nod at left-back in the absence of Firpo and due to the lack of a back-up in that position.

Kalvin Phillips is predicted to start at the base of the midfield with Mateusz Klich and Rodrigo ahead of him in more advanced roles.

On the right-wing, Raphinha is likely to start after lighting up the Premier League last season in his debut year at Elland Road. On the left, Jack Harrison is set to make his debut as a full-time Leeds player after finally joining on a permanent basis from Manchester City after three years on loan in West Yorkshire.

Up front, who else but Patrick Bamford is going to start? He was sensational last season and harshly missed out on a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the European Championships.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have made an approach to sign this English forward whose value is soaring.
