Leeds United earned a famous win against Manchester City and proved a lot of doubters wrong in doing so.

The Whites gave a brilliant account of themselves as our mostly Championship promotion squad tested themselves against multi-million-pound players.

They all coped with big demands placed on them by Marcelo Bielsa, too, as the Leeds boss operated with a man-to-man marking system to combat Man City’s threat in the first half.

Dallas’ superb opener meant Man City went a goal down for just the fifth time this season, and but for Liam Cooper’s red card we would have caused problems in the second half too.

Despite that, we showed brilliant spirit and organisation to keep Pep Guardiola’s side at bay, and silenced doubters who have criticised our defence this season.

Even after the equaliser heads did not drop and again Dallas was on hand to claim a magnificent three points

Here is how MOT Leeds News rate the Leeds United players performances.

Illan Meslier 8 – Was alert and made six saves [SofaScore] to keep Man City at bay for as long as he could manage. Looks much more composed now than he did at the beginning of the year.

Luke Ayling 6 – Kept Raheem Sterling quiet for large spells so deserves credit for that. Was limited going forward due to the pressure we were under after the break.

Diego Llorente 7 – Is getting better with each Leeds showing. Led the line superbly once Cooper was sent off and displayed the experience that was a key reason for signing him.

Liam Cooper 5 – He felt harshly treated by the red card as he won the ball first before the follow-through caught Gabriel Jesus. Unfortunate as he held his own against the Brazilian prior to the incident.

Gjanni Alioski 7 – Arguably the player most Leeds fans will have worried about before the match but he proved doubters wrong with a great performance in defence and attack.

Kalvin Phillips 9 – Absolute masterclass from the England man in controlling his territory and stopping Man City’s threat. Job became even tougher when down to ten men but he did not put a foot wrong and was crucial to the win.

Tyler Roberts 6 – Pace caused Man City problems but did not see enough of the ball to really punish them.

Stuart Dallas 9 – Was phenomenal in both attack and defence and his energy was truly remarkable. Brilliant finish for both of his goals and that summed up a complete display. One of the best players on the pitch alongside Phillips.

Raphinha 7 – Ran Benjamin Mendy ragged throughout the first half with his pace and trickery. Was then given few chances to venture forward but went through one-on-one late on and should have done better against Ederson.

Helder Costa 7 – Excellent work for the first goal so gets an extra point for that. Gave a good account of himself in both attack and defence. Was subdued once down to ten.

Patrick Bamford 6 – Looked gutted when taken off just before half-time to make way for Struijk. Tireless effort up-front, great vision to tee up Dallas’ goal and with a bit more luck would have connected with crosses from Raphinha and Roberts.
