Leeds United must avoid error as Max Wober transfer developments emerge
Leeds United must avoid selling Max Wober and leaving themselves short at the back amid transfer links to Galatasaray.
Despite having a busy transfer window at Elland Road, the Whites aren’t blessed with massive squad depth as they move deeper into the Championship season.
This is especially the case in the backline with just three out-and-out centre-back options available to Daniel Farke.
As a result, losing Wober could prove to be damaging to the German’s squad and their promotion prospects.
Leeds United must avoid Max Wober mistake
The Austria international has been linked with a late move to Galatasaray before the Turkish transfer deadline [Takvim].
The Super Lig giants are looking to sign the 26-year-old on a season-long loan with a view to securing the defender’s services on a permanent deal.
This could see the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach loanee complete a move to the Europa League side for a fee in the region of £8.4million.
Although this may be a positive fee to receive, it would represent a massive risk for Farke to let him go at this stage of the season.
This would heap plenty of pressure on Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk at the back with the duo being the only other true centre-half options at the club.

There is then a chance that Ethan Amapdu could be utilised in the back four but that would leave the midfield weaker for his absence.
Selling Wober to Gala appears to have more downsides than positives and, as a result, Leeds are best placed to steer clear of an exit.
He may not be the most popular with the Whites faithful after that aforementioned switch to Gladbach last term, but leaving the squad short on numbers in a long and arduous Championship campaign is the sort of thing that could cost Farke and his side promotion.
