Leeds United might struggle to keep Raphinha for much longer
Raphinha has been at Leeds United for just over a year, and he has become one of the club’s best players in a very short period of time.
He finally got the international recognition that his displays for the Whites deserved overnight, and he proved to be the game-changer for Brazil.
The 24-year-old was brought off the bench and provided two assists to help his country to a 3-1 win over Venezuela.
First, he sent in a wonderful corner for Marquinhos to head home and then his second assist came right at the end of a mazy dribble into the box before he squared it to Anthony, who slammed the ball home [YouTube].
Raphinha essentially changed the game, and it would be a shock if he doesn’t start Brazil’s next match against Colombia.
However, now that he is starting to gain international recognition, you do have to worry about the Whites’ chances of keeping him.
After ripping up the Premier League, the 24-year-old has already been linked with moves to Liverpool and Manchester United [Gianluigi Longari].
Now, if he continues to perform on the international stage as well, then you would have to think that other big European clubs will start to register their interest.
Raphinha looks to be going only one way, and that is up, so it wouldn’t be a total surprise if the Whites can’t hang on to him for much longer.
Now, hopefully, they do, but he just seems to be destined for great things elsewhere as is the way of football these days, unfortunately.
