Leeds United have a new January priority after what happened v Preston
Leeds United may have to rejig their transfer priorities in January after what Illan Meslier did in their draw with Preston.
The Whites dropped two points once again with their 1-1 draw with Preston on 14 December with Meslier once again at fault for the goal.
Meslier failed to keep out a tame effort from Brad Potts which ultimately proved pivotal to the game and he was rightfully slammed for the howler after the game.
Signing a new goalkeeper in January may be the new priority for Leeds as they look to maintain a serious promotion push.
Goalkeeper signing a priority for Leeds United
The lack of a goalscoring striker has been detrimental throughout the campaign and it certainly needs addressing ahead of the January transfer window but failure to strengthen between the sticks could prove even more important.
Meslier has been poor this season and the majority of opposition attacks look destined to end in a goal with his lack of shot-stopping ability coming into the spotlight on far too many occasions.
Given how many times he has cost his side, it’s remarkable that he hasn’t been dropped yet but January poses an opportunity to sign a ‘keeper capable of challenging for the role in the team.

The basis of a good team starts at the back and with Meslier in goal, the Whites simply do not have that strong foundation that many of their promotion rivals have and that could prove to be the difference come the end of the season.
Failure to address it would be seen as a serious overlook by the Leeds hierarchy and would leave a massive dent in their promotion hopes.
