Leeds United have 11 days to sell Patrick Bamford after transfer developments
Leeds United are running out of time in the transfer window to get their business done, with only 11 days to go until the window slams shut.
There is still plenty of work to be done before 30 August, with Daniel Farke wanting as many as four new signings through the door at Elland Road to bolster his squad for this season’s promotion push [The Athletic, 16 August].
Leeds have balanced the books with several big-money exits. Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray are back in the Premier League with West Ham and Tottenham respectively, while Georginio Rutter is closing in on a move to Brighton [Florain Plettenberg, 17 August].
However, one man whose future continues to hang in the balance after a summer of speculation is Patrick Bamford.
Will Patrick Bamford exit Leeds United after Elland Road transfer developments?
Reports following the playoff final defeat to Southampton last term suggested that Leeds were looking to move on the former England international this summer as they looked to raise some much-needed funds [Daily Mail, 16 May].
So far, no clubs are understood to have made a move for the attacker, with very little speculation around his future and little interest in taking him away from Elland Road.
While the majority of the Whites’ focus in the final days of the transfer window will be on incoming business, they will need to spend the next 11 days finding a potential suitor for Bamford before the window closes.
The 30-year-old has fallen down Farke’s pecking order this season, with both Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph keeping the striker out of the team in the first two league games of the campaign.
On top of that, his injury record is a cause for concern. When the Whites needed him the most at the back end of last term, he was sidelined following a knock at Middlesbrough which ultimately saw him miss the playoffs and a large portion of pre-season.

Similarly to former teammate Liam Cooper, Bamford has almost seen Leeds progress past him and it seems unlikely that he will be anything more than a rotation option if he remains beyond the deadline.
It is in all party’s interest to find some sort of solution in the next 11 days.
Otherwise, Leeds will be left with a player who doesn’t appear to fit Farke’s plans and the forward may waste a valuable few months of his career.
