Leeds United get transfer escape after what Brenden Aaronson has done
Brenden Aaronson has been on something of a redemption arc for Leeds United this season.
The attacking midfielder has made the number 10 role in Daniel Farke’s starting XI his own and has been one of the Whites’ most intriguing players to watch.
He’s only managed to contribute to three goals in 10 games across all competitions, but his presence has been made known on more than one occasion.
Fans gave the US international some stick upon his return to the squad, and although it’s taken some time for him to win them back over, he seems to have done just that.
The 23-year-old been a solid link-up player for Leeds thus far and has benefitted the team massively.
One of the Whites’ main targets in the summer was to try and acquire the services of a number 10, with the West Yorkshire outfit making a £13million bid for Gustavo Hamer [The Star, 26 August].
This, of course, was quickly rebuffed by Sheffield United but, in reality, it feels as if Aaronson has helped Leeds and their fans forget about the Brazilian due to the performances he’s put in this season.
Brenden Aaronson has dazzled for Leeds United this season
Farke chose to heavily bolster his attacking ranks in the summer as the likes of Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon both arrived at Elland Road.
Indeed, replacements were needed for the departures of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, so moves for the aforementioned duo made a lot of sense.
This, however, left them with a lack of depth in the number 10 role and meant that they had a lack of money to find a replacement
Although Joel Piroe has put a shift in off the bench on multiple occasions this term, Aaronson has shown how strong of an asset he is to Leeds.

The US international, alongside Willy Gnonto, have been two of Leeds’ most exciting players this term.
If Aaronson manages to carry on this run of form, there’s no knowing how important he could become for the West Yorkshire outfit by the end of the season.
One thing is for sure: if he exited on loan or permanently like some of his former teammates did in the summer, Leeds would have been far worse off than they find themselves now.
