Leeds United fans will love brutal social-media dig at Frank Lampard
Leeds United taking a subtle swipe at Frank Lampard after their win over his Coventry City side will delight their supporters.
The Whites posted on X (6 February) with their own attempt at a ‘Lampardian transition’ the morning after their 2-0 victory at the CBS Arena, which saw Lampard enter the headlines for the wrong reasons.
Daniel Farke’s side dominated Wednesday’s win over United’s long-time adversary, and the club themselves joining the Lampard pile-on by mimicking his regular interview line will be a popular move.
Leeds’ X post read: “No, but seriously, how good was last night!”
Leeds United will relish opportunity to taunt Frank Lampard
Lampard has long-since become a figure of contempt for United fans since beginning his managerial career, sparking the infamous ‘Spygate’ saga as his Derby side went up against Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites.
Returning to the dugouts of the Championship this season after ill-fated spells with Everton and Chelsea in the Premier League, Lampard’s strong start at Coventry was brought to a dead halt on Wednesday.

Cupping his ears to the raucous away end at the CBS Arena and then bizarrely dismissing his actions and remarks post-match, Lampard didn’t do himself any favours as a villain in the eyes of Leeds fans.
Having already bemoaned a tight fixture turnaround pre-match – despite the Whites playing again in three days’ time – Lampard’s first meeting with United since September 2022 didn’t go to plan.
The EFL’s disciplinary board could be the next port of call given Lampard’s reaction to renditions of an Oasis-inspired chant from his Derby days, and that’ll round off a night to forget for the 46-year-old.
In other Leeds news, Neil Warnock named one United star as his “favourite player in the Championship”.
