Leeds United fans ‘to absolutely love’ what Georginio Rutter said Man United

Georginio Rutter was a much-loved figure at Leeds United by the time he signed for Premier League side Brighton last summer.

Of course, supporters would have loved to have seen the Frenchman stay after the Whites missed out on promotion, but a £40million offer was clearly too much to turn down as a Championship club [BBC Sport].

Daniel Farke’s side are still battling to win promotion back to the Premier League while Rutter is loving life at the Amex Stadium, but the player has still not lost the love for his former club.

After scoring the Seagulls’ third goal in a 3-1 win against Manchester United on Saturday 18 January, the 23-year-old was asked if he would sign for the Red Devils, and his reply was golden.

Posting a recording of Rutter’s live stream via @football.punt10 on X, simply said: “No,” while shaking his head adamantly.

Georginio Rutter’s love for Leeds United lives on after Elland Road exit

It is no secret that Rutter struggled in his first six months in Yorkshire, having been openly slated after failing to make an impact in Leeds’ relegation season.

However, he was an absolute menace in the Championship, notching six goals and 15 assists as the Whites narrowly missed out on promotion back to the top tier of English football.

The Championship play-off final defeat to Southampton was absolutely heartbreaking, and so too was Rutter’s move to Brighton, but it was inevitable after the crushing result at Wembley Stadium.

Georginio Rutter in Leeds United kit
Leeds United paid a club-record fee for Georginio Rutter in January 2023.

He is still clearly a massive fan of Leeds, sharing the same disgust for Man United as the supporters of his former team, and they will love him for such an honest answer in the public eye.

While it is massively unlikely to see Rutter one day come back to Elland Road as a player, he will forever be welcomed back with open arms to watch a Leeds game should he ever choose to.
