Leeds United face ‘no-brainer’ Meslier decision amid latest transfer news

Illan Meslier could be replaced at Leeds United next season if a deal can be struck elsewhere.

As things stand, its somewhat unclear which division they will be in, but Leeds have every chance of making a return to the Premier League.

In fact, it remains entirely in their hands despite their latest 2-2 draw with QPR, though performances and results will have to improve as a matter of urgency.

If promotion is achieved, the Whites will have several decisions to make on the recruitment front, with one of an easy nature in regard to Meslier.

Meslier could be replaced this summer

Meslier has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this season, and if Leeds achieve promotion, it’s likely that it will come to an end.

Of course, the Whites would need to replace him, and amid links to Caiomhin Kelleher [Give Me Sport], it appears as though they have found the perfect option.

It would be an instant upgrade at Elland Road, and one that would immediately boost their chances of retaining their place in the Premier League.

Of course, an upgrade in that department would be nowhere near enough to do that, though it would be an excellent start and certainly a required one.

Leeds need to achieve promotion first

While summer planning is crucial, it means very little if Leeds fail to achieve promotion this season, showcasing where their priorities need to be.

With eight games to go, Daniel Farke’s side are just two points clear of Burnley in third, and level on points with Sheffield United in second.

Leeds have won just one of their last four encounters, and without improvement, they face the possibility of missing out on a top-two finish, despite previously looking as though they had it all sealed.

After the failures of last season, the pressure is certainly on Farke to ensure that it isn’t replicated this time out.
