Leeds United duo Ian Poveda and Leif Davis must be axed after poor loan spells

Leeds United have operated with a very small squad all season having loaned out players who looked set to be useful assets to the squad.

While Helder Costa got the glamorous season in Spain with La Liga outfit Valencia, where he is flopping badly, two other Whites senior hopefuls got less fancy loan moves away from Elland Road.

Ian Poveda headed across the Pennines to Ewood Park and Blackburn Rovers while Leif Davis took the long road south to the Vitality Stadium and Bournemouth.

Championship moves for the pair of them was a very smart move in actual fact as they were still unproven and needed that further year in the second tier before becoming fully-fledged Premier League players.

Sadly for Jesse Marsch and Leeds fans everywhere though, neither has been able to shine like we all hoped they would and the boss has to be ready to kick them to the curb when they return for pre-season.

of the two, Poveda has had the better season but it still isn’t remarkable numbers being put up by the former Manchester City youth player.

One goal and two assists in eight games for Rovers, as per Transfer Markt, is not what Leeds will have been hoping for when they signed on the dotted line to allow him to leave LS11.

He should have played more often for Tony Mowbray’s side as should Davis who has struggled even more with the Cherries.

He’s played more than Poveda (12 times) but he has just one assist to his name and only played 16% of the season for Scott Parker’s side, again via Transfer Markt.

If either of these had any desire of making it in the Premier League, they would have dominated the Championship and their failure to do so suggests that their time at Elland Road has to come to an end.

In other Leeds United news, 10,000 tickets have been sold for the Under-23s game against Manchester City and Marsch has to start noticing the fans’ support of the youth at the club.
