Leeds United could sign Daryl Dike before transfer deadline
Leeds United should look to bring in a Patrick Bamford backup along with a midfielder before the window shuts on August 31.
Last season, the Whites were fortunate enough to have the English striker available for the majority of their league games.
Marcelo Bielsa worked on his game in the off season to ensure that he did not perform as woefully as he did in the Championship in 2019/20.
Despite bringing in Rodrigo last summer, Bielsa has sparingly used him as a number nine.
He has been deployed out wide, as a number 10 and even in a free midfield position – which arguably is where he looks the most effective.
Rodrigo was never one to score too many goals, but a player who is, and has popped onto Leeds’ radar is Daryl Dike.
According to TEAMtalk, Dike has been viewed as an option by the West Yorkshire outfit and they’re keen on bringing the 21-year-old to Elland Road on loan before the window closes.
It would be a masterstroke by Victor Orta if he feels this one off as he’s a fantastic player who would be a perfect fit for Bielsa.
Dike is currently plying his trade in his native USA with Orlando City and he may be available on loan this summer.
In the second half of last season, he moved to Barnsley on loan where he had a terrific time in the Championship.
Since moving to the Oakwell Stadium, he scored nine goals from an Expected Goals (xG) total of only 6.45.
He was also a menace in the air – winning 19.93 aerial duels per 90 minutes in the Championship. [Wyscout]
Dike is also an extremely hard-working player and is willing to put the hard yards without the ball as well.
His work ethic in training is exemplary as well and one can understand why Leeds are exploring the options to sign him this summer.
