Leeds United could lose Joe Rodon without promotion as Crystal Palace eye Marc Guehi replacement
Leeds United face a tough task of keeping hold of Joe Rodon at Elland Road next season if they don’t earn promotion after a £50m+ development elsewhere.
The Whites pulled off a great coup in last summer’s transfer window by securing the Wales international on a season-long loan deal, and he has become a key member of Daniel Farke’s side.
Both parties have already expressed an interest in making the deal permanent, however it seems to be dependant on the club achieving promotion and returning to the Premier League.
Joe Rodon to Leeds United in a £20m deal?
Spurs are said to be looking for between £15-20m to allow Rodon to leave the club permanently, with the 26-year-old having no future in north London.
Leeds would be willing to pay that seemingly but only if they were a Premier League club, which could leave an opportunity for rival clubs to step in if there is any stalling between the clubs.
That’s where Crystal Palace could come in, with the south London club reportedly planning for the sale of star defender Marc Guehi this summer.
According to The Telegraph (5 March), the Eagles are expecting to sell the England international this summer with a host of top clubs showing an interest in the former Chelsea centre-back. Any deal is likely to eclipse the £50m they received for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and would give them plenty of money to find a replacement.

Should Leeds fail to get promotion, they would surely look to find an agreement to bring him in again. But if Palace were to add him to their shortlist, they would have the funds and the status which would give them the advantage in the race.
Promotion is obviously already the key for the club’s summer plans, and they are desperate to get back to the top flight. But it’s also going to play a huge part in Rodon’s future, with other club’s now making their own plans too.
