Leeds United could announce Daniel Farke as manager before 49ers Enterprises takeover confirmation
Daniel Farke is now expected to become Leeds United manager and could be announced before the 49ers Enterprises takeover confirmation, with a press conference now set at Thorp Arch.
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth told the Leeds United News podcast [29 June], the American consortium 49ers desperately want to make an announcement over their managerial appointment but can’t with English Football League yet to approve their official full takeover.
The Daily Mail [23 June] reported former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke as the leading candidate following a meeting on Friday 23 June, and according to the outlet on 29 June, the German boss was shown around Thorp Arch ahead of appointing him as new manager.

Sky Sports Germany also reported on 29 June, that the German was set to sign his contract at Elland Road once the finer details have been sorted.
And according to a report in The Guardian [30 June], although it had been thought the new manager would not be introduced until that 49ers deal is rubber-stamped by the EFL, there is now a distinct possibility Farke’s appointment could be formalised earlier.
Last Word of Sports sources revealed on 29 June that a press conference was arranged to announce a new appointment and that could well mean Farke is appointed as manager any minute now.
Such sources are also indicating that there is a meeting of the club’s Supporters Advisory Board, called by the club, which implies a significant announcement is pending.
Yes! It now finally seems as if Leeds United have got their man after such a long and gruelling wait.
And Farke represents the perfect tonic for Leeds United to bounce back after recent turmoil in the Premier League last season.
The German is a Sky Bet Championship mastermind, a proven winner at this level having navigated two promotions with Norwich City and won over 70 games across his two campaigns in the England second division.

That record alone should have made him Leeds’ best candidate for the role and it seems as if the 49ers Enterprises and those at the top of Elland Road have certainly got their heads screwed on to appoint him as manager.
The German now represents the club’s best asset and best hope of immediate promotion next season, and his penchant for an attractive, expansive and exciting brand of football could hand the club fans the hope and excitement they’ve been longing for since Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure.
There may be doubts about his ability to perform in the Premier League should Leeds United make a return this time next year, but that really won’t be the case at Elland Road given the plethora of resources available to the club that he didn’t have at Carrow Road.
The next step now is, can the 49ers give him the room and resources he needs to build a side fresh off potentially losing many of their big-name stars? With pre-season set to kick off in the coming new week, the pressure is well and truly on now.
In other Leeds United news, the club are set to react to an impending Elland Road exodus with “ambitious” incoming transfer plans.
