Leeds United can guarantee promotion with Emi Buendia loan transfer in January
Leeds United could put one foot in the Premier League in January if they complete a deal to sign former Championship sensation Emi Buendia.
Having been previously linked to Leeds in 2021 (Foot Mercato), rumours have again emerged suggesting Buendia could be a target for the Whites in January after a failed attempt in the summer (The Square Ball).
While the transfer at this stage looks to be an unlikely one according to Beren Cross, it is one that is worthy of keeping an eye on throughout the coming weeks.
Buendia was once linked with a switch to Arsenal (Football London) but gametime at Aston Villa is becoming more and more limited for the Argentine and a January move could happen.
If Leeds could muster up a deal for Buendia, you can’t help but feel it would almost guarantee promotion and be a huge feather in the cap for a side chasing the top two.
Emi Buendia would be a statement signing for Leeds United
Moreover, Buendia is a real favourite of manager Daniel Farke, who made Buendia the focal point of the Norwich side he twice successfully led to promotion to the Premier League.
While the signing of a ‘keeper takes priority if the top two is the aim, Buendia’s creativity and attacking influence would be a game-changer at Elland Road.
Throughout his time in the Championship especially, Buendia earned himself a reputation as being one of the best to have played in the division with his ability to change a game in an instant.
The Whites certainly have players of their own that have the capabilities to do that, but none reach the heights of Buendia and if a deal can materialise, it would boost their promotion hopes tenfold.

His ability is blindingly obvious which is half of the reason a move back to the Championship seems unlikely but you never know if you never try and Leeds certainly have to.
January has the potential to make or break the season for Farke’s side and all eyes will be on any developments over the coming weeks.
