Leeds United already learn Oliver Skipp stance on transfer as summer Tottenham exit mooted
Leeds United may have already been told Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp’s stance on a potential summer transfer to Elland Road.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Yorkshire this summer [Football London, 29 June], but reports have insisted that he will not be part of the deal which will see Archie Gray make the switch to Tottenham [Alasdair Gold, 1 July].
Instead, talks are underway to see Welsh international Joe Rodon return to Elland Road on a permanent basis as part of the teenager’s move to Spurs having spent an impressive season on loan with Daniel Farke’s side.
Although it has been suggested that a move for Skipp could potentially be completed separately, a new update from football agent Paul O’Keefe may suggest that personal terms could be an issue for the midfielder.
Replying to a supporter on X (1 July) who asked: “Any News on Skippy? Is he interested in Championship or does he want prem?” O’Keefe said: “Prem.”
Will Leeds United sign Oliver Skipp as Archie Gray closes in on summer Tottenham transfer?
If Skipp is keen to remain in the Premier League this summer, it feels unlikely that Leeds United will be able to prize him away from Spurs having missed out on promotion from the Championship last season.
Admittedly, these things can change quickly in the transfer window and should the Whites promise the 23-year-old a good contract and regular first-team football, he may well be willing to drop down a division.
But a move within the Premier League feels more likely at this stage of the summer. Although it may be a blow to Farke’s side, they are already incredibly well stocked in the middle of the park, even as Gray nears the exit.
Hopefully, Skipp will change his mind if and when the Whites express a genuine interest in securing his services. On paper, he would be an excellent replacement for Gray given his previous success under the management of Farke.
