Leeds United: 49ers Enterprises must now force £10m+ exit windfall at Elland Road after Marc Roca development

49ers Enterprises could now see their attempts to gain a healthy profit on Leeds United loanee Marc Roca receive a huge boost after another impressive display for Real Betis.

The Spaniard joined the club for £10m in the summer of 2022 from Bayern Munich and was a regular member of the squad that got relegated, before heading to La Liga with Real Betis on a season-long loan last summer.

Roca has enjoyed his loan spell at Betis this season, becoming a key and crucial figure under Pellegrini, scoring three goals and registering two assists in 19 La Liga games with talk of a permanent move in January already emerging (Marca, 2 January].

Leeds United

Spanish news outlet Fichajes.net shared on 25 November that the Whites are hoping to net a healthy profit on Roca’s services, a figure quoted at higher than the £10million Leeds paid to sign him for Betis.

Marca shared on 2 January that Betis are waiting with a “bullet in the chamber” to postpone their purchase of Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca until 2025.

Roca’s loan could be extended for the 2024/25 season should the Whites fail to win promotion to the Premier League this season.

The La Liga outfit are hoping to postpone their purchase of the midfielder until then when he will have just a year left on his contract [Transfermarkt], but know that should Leeds United win promotion, they will have to dig deep in their pockets to try and seal his permanent transfer.

However, given Roca’s recent displays in Seville, the Leeds United owners 49ers Enterprises will certainly be ensuring Betis pay the full £10million-plus for his services and they are well within their right to after another impressive showing as Pellegrini’s men snatched a late win over Granada on Saturday (13 January).

The Spaniard featured at the heart of the midfield for Manuel Pellegrini’s men as he registered an assist for former Real Madrid maestro Isco to score the winner 12 minutes from time.

Spanish news outlet El Desmarsque could not hide their delight at Roca’s improvement and influence as the game progressed, hailing his “complete” showing in midfield.

They wrote: “After making a mistake in a pass at the beginning, he had the courage to overcome and become one of the best on the team in a complete game. Key in the goal to enable Isco.”

It is becoming increasingly obvious that Roca isn’t a bad player, but rather isn’t particularly well equipped to flourish in the Premier League as he continues to go from strength to strength not only in La Liga but also in European football.

Leeds United

The former Bayern Munich has shown that when a player moves onto a much more comfortable and settled environment, he can flourish and that’s what the Leeds United loanee has proven under Manuel Pellgerini’s trust and management.

Roca has been brilliant in his time in Spain so far this season and Saturday’s win was another impressive and competent display from the Elland Road loanee who may well be seeing his price tag skyrocket for every good display.

That can only mean good news for Leeds United who are certainly willing to sanction a permanent sale for the Spaniard who certainly looks like he’ll never step foot at the club again.

And the opportunity to receive a healthy exit windfall of around £10m must be forced by the club’s American owners. Even if not from Real Betis, it is possible to receive it from another interested party.
