Leeds ‘to cut losses’ with Jack Harrison sale in summer window

Jack Harrison has had a troubled time at Leeds United since joining in 2021, but it is surely coming to a point where they will consider his permanent exit.

Leeds United look on course to achieve promotion back to the Premier League, though Harrison has played no part in those successes.

Instead, the former Man City winger has spent the season out on loan with Premier League outfit Everton, where he has failed to impress.

Harrison has registered zero goal contributions for the Toffees despite having made 23 league appearances, and Leeds will have an easy decision to make in the summer, though it will depend on several factors.

Harrison stay at Leeds coming to an end

Harrison was said to be of interest to Fulham in the winter, though no move materialised, and he remained on loan at Everton while staying on the books at Elland Road.

In 2023, the 28-year-old agreed on fresh terms to extend his stay at Leeds until 2028, having joined in 2021 for a reported £11million fee [BBC Sport], and it seems highly unlikely that they will be wanting him to stick around for that long.

Leeds will have some huge decisions to make in the summer, regardless of which league they are in, and the future of the winger has to be high up on the list of priorities.

Given his inability to perform in the Premier League, he is unlikely to be of any interest to the Whites, and they simply must be considering his permanent sale.

Given his failures this season, Leeds would find it a challenge to recoup the £11m they paid for him, meaning that if they do look to offload him, they will have to do so at a loss.

Leeds could be set for summer exodus

While an exit for Harrison seems like the only reasonable outcome, it’s likely to be a similar story for several others in the Leeds squad.

Max Wober is another likely to be offloaded, with Patrick Bamford’s future at Elland Road also looking rather bleak.

Of course, the ability to offload those players is highly dependent on there being interest from other clubs, which for Harrison and Wober shouldn’t be a concern.

However, for Bamford, Leeds will do well to find a potential suitor, given his high wages and repeated injury concerns.
