Piroe may have a month to save Leeds United career amid transfer development
Joel Piroe’s position at Leeds United could come under threat in January amid links to Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Turgeman and December could be his last chance to save his career at Elland Road.
Earlier this week, links emerged from Israel connecting Dor Turgeman with a switch to Leeds United in the January transfer window (Sport5).
Should the Whites complete a deal in January, it could spell the end for Piroe at Elland Road with the Dutchman highly unlikely to be keen on becoming a squad player.
Piroe has registered seven goals so far this season, with Darren Bent labelling his role in the side as the club’s biggest concern despite his return.
Joel Piroe needs to impress in December to retain his place at Leeds United
The 25-year-old, all in all, has been solid if unspectacular this campaign with nine-goal contributions in 18 appearances. 10 of them have seen him in the starting lineup.
His numbers are distinctly average for a player surrounded with such quality and the lack of a natural goalscorer has been the main hindrance for Daniel Farke this season.
If Leeds can conclude a deal for Turgeman, he would almost certainly become the starting striker at Elland Road and with several players capable of playing behind a number nine, Piroe’s gametime would likely become severely limited.
Playing his football with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Turgeman has five goals in eight league appearances while also notching in the Europa League.

With that said Leeds have six December encounters in which the Dutchman needs to have a huge impact with a large number of points up for grabs.
Failure to perform and contribute could spell the beginning of the end for him.
