Joe Gelhardt among three Leeds United first-team stars who could leave in January
Leeds United’s impressive start to the campaign has highlighted the talent of players like Wilfried Gnonto who is one of three players that could depart Elland Road in January.
Daniel Farke’s Leeds United sit fifth in the Championship, three points from the top however January could make or break their promotion hopes.
Whilst incoming will be necessary, Leeds will also be wary of losing certain players for various reasons and these are three potential departees.
Willy Gnonto
The talented forward seemed close to an exit last summer after handing in a transfer request and refusing to play for the club in order to force a move however a report from BBC Sport stated the Italian apologised for his conduct and returned to Leeds.
Gnonto has been essential for the Whites so far this season with two goals and four assists, a return that will have no doubt alerted clubs across Europe ahead of the January transfer window.
Keeping Gnonto could be the best bit of business Leeds conduct this January
Joe Gelhardt
Ever since returning from a loan spell at Sunderland, Joe Gelhardt has found his gametime at Leeds severely limited and a loan spell could perhaps be the best outcome for both parties in January.
Gelhardt has made just two appearances for Leeds this season, playing a total of nine minutes and it is very hard to see his fortunes change at the club anytime soon.
A permanent departure is also a possibility for ‘Joffy’ should Leeds acquire a reasonable fee.

Junior Firpo
According to Football League World, Junior Firpo is in the final year of his contract at Leeds and as a result, non-English clubs can approach the full-back to seek a pre-contract agreement.
This may force Leeds’ hands who may attempt to recoup some of the eight-figure fee that he was signed for from Barcelona as opposed to losing him on a free this summer.
Firpo has been arguably the best full-back in the Championship so far this season and already has three goal contributions to his name.
