Leeds United shot up to second in the Premier League table with an astonishing 3-0 win against Chelsea at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

Brenden Aaronson grabbed his first goal for the Whites in the 33rd minute after a crazy mistake by Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Rodrigo then scored his fourth of the season four minutes later with a beautifully guided header.

Chelsea got back into the game a bit in the second half but the game was over and Leeds’ three points were secured when Rodrigo headed down a perfect Dan James cross into the path of Jack Harrison, who scored in the 69th minute.

Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off for Chelsea for a second yellow card in the 85th minute but the day was already Leeds’.

Here, MOT Leeds News has rated the players out of 10 for their performances:

Illan Meslier – 7

Meslier didn’t have a whole lot to do, in a way. The Frenchman was only properly called into action once or twice but Chelsea always seemed to have a player offside. He saved well from Raheem Sterling and Conor Gallagher but both were saved by the linesman’s flag.

Rasmus Kristensen – 5

Kristensen’s had a slow and worrying start to life as a Leeds player. If there was one player who Chelsea targetted at Elland Road on Sunday, it was the Dane. Marc Cucurella and Raheem Sterling looked as though they had the better of the right-back on the regular. Kristensen seems full of mistakes, which does worry us. But we’re still backing him to come good as a Leeds player.

Robin Koch – 6

Koch protected Meslier’s goal well enough but he did look as though he struggled to contain Sterling on one or two occasions. Still, it was a solid display by the German.

Diego Llorente – 7

Llorente had such a cool and calm 90 minutes against Chelsea. He was always well-positioned and looked very comfortable with Tyler Adams in front of him and Koch and Pascal Struijk either side of him.

Pascal Struijk – 8

Struijk was Leeds’ unsung hero against Chelsea. While playing out of his comfort zone at left-back yet again due to Junior Firpo’s ongoing issues, Struijk didn’t look out of place at all. He was very hard to beat for Chelsea’s attackers and every now and then, he charged forward with the press to disjoint the away side’s passing moves. It was a really great display by the 23-year-old.

Tyler Adams – 8

That was easily Adams’ best performance in a Leeds shirt. Was there a blade of grass he didn’t cover? The USA international failed to allow the Chelsea players any rest and also looked very calm and composed in possession. We had our doubts about Adams’ ability to fill Kalvin Phillips’ boots but he’s proving us wrong to have had those concerns.

Marc Roca – 7

Roca’s growing into his role at Leeds. He and Adams looked great alongside each other in the middle of the park. The former Bayern Munich midfielder looked as though he was slowing down in the second half and he was replaced correctly by Adam Forshaw.

Daniel James – 7

James gets a lot of criticism. It’s understandable given how high expectations were when he signed from Manchester United due to his price tag and the fact that Marcelo Bielsa obsessed over him. James’ pressing play was great against Chelsea and it was his cross into Rodrigo in the second half that led to Harrison’s goal. James got a massive hug from Marsch when he was taken off. Every Leeds fan in Elland Road wanted to give him one too.

Brenden Aaronson – 9

Aaronson has started off his life in the Premier League with a bang. While he was robbed of his first goal in English football against Wolves, there was no denying that it was his goal when Mendy messed up in the first half. Even though it was a tap-in, it took so much quality for Aaronson to close the goalkeeper down, win the ball and take it into the net. Away from that, he was superb in every category. What a performance.

Jack Harrison – 10 (Man of the match)

Get him in the England squad, seriously. If Gareth Southgate overlooks Harrison for the upcoming international break then he shouldn’t be in charge of the Three Lions. Harrison’s work rate, his crossing and his finishing were on point as Leeds absolutely leathered Chelsea. It was one of his best displays in a Leeds shirt.

Rodrigo – 9

No one can stop this man, can they? Rodrigo scored, grabbed an assist and ran the Chelsea defence ragged throughout his 65th appearance as a Leeds player. Rodrigo has finally – finally – hit his stride for the Whites and we’re praying that this can continue. He’s been tremendous for weeks now.

Adam Forshaw (on for Roca, 61′) – 6

Luis Sinisterra (on for James, 70′) – 6

Joe Gelhardt (on for Harrison, 83′) – N/A

Sam Greenwood (on for Rodrigo, 83′) – N/A

Mateusz Klich (on for Aaronson, 83′) – N/A
