Illan Meslier transfer: Leeds United exit on the cards amid Man Utd update
Illan Meslier is surely edging closer to a Leeds United exit with Florian Plettenberg reporting that Altay Bayindir could leave Manchester United in the coming windows.
Meslier has become somewhat of a pantomime villain this season at Elland Road having made a series of howlers leading to questions over his future at the club.
Leeds’ fierce rivals the Red Devils have previously been linked with a move for the Frenchman if Bayindir was to leave the club (Alan Nixon), which is looking increasingly likely given Plettenberg’s update on X (2 January).
His update states that “there is an expectation” Bayindir could depart Old Trafford and if he is to leave this window, you feel Meslier could follow suit.
Leeds United need to sign a goalkeeper regardless of what happens with Illan Meslier
The Whites currently occupy the summit of the Championship despite dropping points against Blackburn Rovers. With that in mind, it might seem strange to be questioning the quality in the squad.
For the large part, Leeds do have an excellent squad but the ‘keeper department is where they lack the quality to maintain that promotion push.
Meslier has been the reason behind several dropped points this season with a last-minute howler against Sunderland and a mistake against Preston instantly coming to mind which resulted in four dropped points.

If that trend continues, given the closely contested top four in the league, Leeds could very well miss out on automatic promotion and they could be made to rue the decision not to strengthen there.
The Whites would likely get a pretty-ish fee for the Frenchman that could be used well in their bid to sign an upgrade on their shot-stopper.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites need to take this £12.5m gamble if they want to achieve promotion.
