Glen Kamara underappreciated at Leeds United as record-breaking stat emerges

Daniel Farke currently has a plethora of incredible players at his disposal at Leeds United, which makes it that much easier to underappreciate those flying under the radar.

Signing from Rangers in the summer on a £5million deal, as per Leeds Live, Glen Kamara is certainly one of those ever-present performers at Elland Road, but little is said about his displays due to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev.

The midfield trio have all been paired up in different midfield partnerships, but since Farke has dropped Ampadu into defence alongside Joe Rodon, Kamara and Gruev have forged a new duo.

Glen Kamara breaks Championship record

The Finland international has started 22 of the Whites’ 32 league matches, registering two assists and helping Leeds to their current second-place standing and the FA Cup Fifth Round.

Though the attacking stars in Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, and Wilfried Gnonto have gained plenty of plaudits in recent matches, Kamara’s record-breaking stats suggest that he should be focused more on.

As per Opta, Kamara has become the first midfielder on record to complete at least 95 per cent of his passes in seven consecutive Championship appearances, doing so against Birmingham City, Cardiff City, Preston North End, Norwich City, Bristol City, Rotherham United and Swansea City.

The 28-year-old has quietly been working away under Farke since he arrived at Elland Road, and has yet to receive the plaudits he deserves due to being outshone by his goal-hungry teammates.

Both Gruev and Ampadu have been noticed far more often, because the pair are much more unknown entities at club level, making their displays somewhat more surprising, whereas Kamara starred for Rangers in almost 200 appearances and has 57 Finland caps to his name.

However, with his record-breaking stat now in the open, it may be about time that Kamara is given his flowers, as Leeds continue to push for Premier League promotion, having overtaken Southampton in the Championship table.
