Daniel James benched amid Crysencio Summerville decision – Predicted Leeds United XI v Millwall

Daniel Farke has some big decisions to make with his Leeds United starting lineup ahead of the big Championship clash with Millwall on Sunday at Elland Road.

The Whites claimed a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in their last outing to cut the gap on Leicester at the top of the table to just three points with nine games remaining.

And after a nine-day break and with an international break to come Farke has some decisions to make on his lineup, with some players struggling for form in recent weeks despite the good results.

Leeds United defence foundation of their success

Illan Meslier is the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in the Championship this season and his form has justified Farke’s decision to keep him as the number one.

Ahead of him Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu have formed a phenomenal partnership in the centre of defence in the absence of Pascal Struijk, with just three goals conceded in the league since December 29th.

Full-back is also likely to see the boss go with his strongest options considering the break in action either side of this game, meaning Archie Gray and Junior Firpo should get the nod ahead of Sam Byram and Connor Roberts.

In midfield the partnership of Glen Kamara and Ilia Gruev has blossomed with both men comfortable in possession and also defensively aware meaning there is great balance to allow the attackers to do their thing.

Should Crysencio Summerville be dropped?

Wilfried Gnonto’s form in recent weeks has been fantastic and he added to that with another goal at Hillsborough which should secure his place in the team, but Farke has a decision to make on who else will start.

Crysencio Summerville is currently on the longest drought of his season with no goals or assists in his last six appearances, while Dan James has returned from injury in flying form.

But the boss tends to be loyal to his players and Summerville has been the standout performer this season, so he should keep his place while Wales international James is forced to accept a place on the bench.

Centrally Georginio Rutter and Patrick Bamford have drummed up a great partnership also, and should continue from the start.
