Daniel Farke ‘must take risk’ with Willy Gnonto to seal Leeds promotion

Willy Gnonto has barely featured for Leeds United since the turn of the year.

Despite a recent shock defeat to Portsmouth, promotion is still on the cards for Daniel Farke’s side ahead of the final run-in.

In fact, Leeds are very much in the driving seat to return to the Premier League, though there will be twists and turns along the way that could hamper their chances.

In order to fight against that, Farke simply has to start taking a risk when it comes to team selection, with Gnonto waiting patiently in the wings for his opportunity to showcase what he can bring to the team.

Gnonto needs to replace Brenden Aaronson for Leeds

Despite what has been a fruitful campaign for the Whites, Brenden Aaronson is one player who has struggled throughout that period, yet Farke insists on starting him.

With Dan James impressing regularly and Manor Solomon likewise, it has seen the likes of Gnonto and Largie Ramazani all but glued to the bench as of late.

If Farke wants to maintain the upper hand in the promotion race, Gnonto simply has to be brought back into the starting 11 for a run of games, with Aaronson dropping out.

Whether the Italian could play the 10 role or occupy a wide position and allow one of the others to play centrally, there are options to be had.

However, if Farke fails to make the most of the options he has at his disposal, it could be a decision they are forced to look back on at the end of the season as a missed opportunity.

Premier League beckons for Leeds

Heading into another crucial encounter with Millwall, Leeds simply just need to return to winning ways, regardless of how they do it.

At this stage in the season, results are all that matter in the race to get over the finish line.

Leeds have more than enough to get the job finished and simply need to get promoted after the disappointment of missing out last season
