Daniel Farke could ‘reignite interest’ in Leeds-linked forward after what he said
Daniel Farke has done an excellent job with Leeds United this season and has his side sitting at the top of the Championship table, looking towards promotion.
However, in recent weeks, a dip in form has meant that Leeds’ gap at the top of the table has reduced and they now sit level on points with Sheffield United, ahead only on goal difference.
With players returning from international duty this week ahead of a Championship return with a game against Swansea City, Farke will be hoping to finish the season on a high and gain promotion to the top flight.

Farke offered summer transfer option
Although it’s important to focus on what’s ahead in the immediate future, Leeds would have been hoping that they could start to put early plans in place for the summer transfer window.
However, with the Whites not yet confidently knowing which league they will play in next season, there is a limit on how much can be done at this stage.
If Leeds do go up, that is only half the job achieved at Elland Road and the main objective is then to retain their spot in the Premier League, which will require additions to the squad.
While the boss has formed a strong team, Troy Deeney has warned Leeds about the struggles of competing in the top flight, something that won’t be lost on anyone at the club.
Farke will need to add a number of new players and one may have just put his offer on the table.
Norwich City striker Josh Sargent told The Guardian (24 March): “I think there will be a few options this summer if something were to happen.
“It’s a decision that me and my wife are gonna have to make together, and whatever makes the most sense for our family, as well as my career.”

Leeds United could take a look at Sargent again
Last summer it was reported that Farke was interested in signing Sargent from his former club although no deal was done.
When he last featured in the Premier League in the 2021-22 season, Sargent scored just two goals in 26 top-flight appearances but he has been a much more regular contributor in front of goal in the second tier and may be ready for another crack at the top table.
This season, Sargent has contributed 12 goals and five assists in 24 league appearances which backs up his numbers from last season, showing he can perform on a regular basis.
Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | 24 | 12 | 5 |
2023/24 | 26 | 16 | 2 |
It will be interesting to see how Leeds play it in the summer window because they don’t want to overspend and find themselves in a difficult financial position down the line but, similarly, upgrades must be found.
Sargent does have the Premier League experience which Farke will want present throughout several members of his squad although this could be a highly risky move too.
For now, Farke needs to keep his focus on keeping Leeds at the front of the promotion chase and worry about transfers when he knows what he’s recruiting for.
