Charlie Crew will surely be furious amid Leeds United transfer development
Charlie Crew will be furious as his game time at Leeds United is set to be further limited should Cheikhou Kouyate complete his move to Elland Road.
MOT Leeds News confirmed Kouyate was on the list of free agent targets considered by the club and they are pressing ahead in their efforts to sign the midfielder.
The Whites are eager to bolster the midfield ranks after the long-term injuries to duo Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev.
However, Daniel Farke risks upsetting Crew at Elland Road as he may have hoped for a chance in the first team to ease the void in the middle of the park.
Charlie Crew is being overlooked at Leeds United
The 18-year-old has been a regular fixture in the Leeds dugout this season, but any hope of featuring on the pitch has been washed away with the impending arrival of Kouyate.
While Farke can be forgiven for considering attaining the experience of the 34-year-old as a stop-gap option while Ampadu and Gruev continue rehabilitation, a valuable opportunity to fast-track Crew’s development at Elland Road is set to be missed.
Crew was called up to the Wales U21 squad for the international break [FAW] and, while he remained on the bench for the 2-1 loss to the Czech Republic on Friday [11 October], he still stands a chance of gaining valuable experience for the clash against Slovakia on Tuesday [15 October].

It seems Farke is set on his decision to recruit another midfielder. The German attempted to convince fellow countryman Christoph Kramer to join him in West Yorkshire [Yorkshire Evening Post] and is prioritising experience over youth to help the side until the regular starters return.
Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have deputised for the meantime and, while another injury could prove a serious problem for the Whites, Crew is more than capable of ticking the side along in the Championship fixtures ahead.
He is being denied the opportunity to follow the path laid by Archie Gray at Leeds United. Farke must make sure this is not a decision he lives to regret.
In other Leeds United, an update has emerged on the club’s quest to finalise the Cheikhou Kouyate transfer.
