Bright future ahead after Jesse Marsch shares news on Leeds United forward Sam Greenwood
The future of this Leeds United side continues to look brighter after Jesse Marsch shared the reason for Sam Greenwood’s increased involvement.
The 20-year-old has been part of every match-day squad under the American, and came on in the 3-0 win at Watford today (9 April) for the final half-hour.
He was credited with an assist, to add to the one he got in over an hour on the pitch at Wolves, suggesting the young forward has a key part to play in the remaining games this season, and the United future.
Leeds Live reporter Beren Cross shared on his personal Twitter account following the Watford win Marsch’s news that Greenwood has adapted to the new tactics since he arrived better than anyone.
That is clearly a major positive sign for his overall development, and his chances with the new boss.
And involvement in two goals in just his second and third Premier League appearances would seem to bear that out.
Finally
While much of the focus has understandably been on the ascension of teenage striker Joe Gelhardt, Greenwood has gone slightly under the radar.
Joffy’s dramatic winner against Norwich put him in the headlines but his slightly senior Thorp Arch teammate is making an impact as well.
This might turn out to be Marsch’s defining achievement, even assuming he does what he appears to be and keeps the team in the top flight.

For all Marcelo Bielsa’s many qualities, and everything he achieved at Elland Road, there appeared to be limited development for some of the squad’s youngsters.
His successor has shown faith in the upcoming crop of talent already and it looks to be bearing fruit.
Granted, events helped make certain decisions for him, such as the injury to Illan Meslier that forced him to turn to 21-year-old keeper Kristoffer Klaesson in the win at Wolves.
Just as Patrick Bamford’s recurrence of issues in the same game gave Greenwood a chance, and concussion for Mateusz Klich gave 19-year-old Charlie Cresswell a half.

Similarly, Crysencio Summerville’s wonderful hat-trick for the under-23s last week make it easier to give him a cameo appearance at Vicarage Road.
The young Dutch winger wanted to move during the January window as he felt he had more opportunities for football elsewhere, as Cody Drameh succeeded in doing to Cardiff.
The pair of them are likely to feature in the manager’s plans for next years, as will Gelhardt and clearly Greenwood.
Whoever leaves in the summer from the senior members of the team, there looks to be a rapidly-improving new generation ready to take their place.
In other Leeds United news, the United manager heaped praise on one his players while sharing what he did in the dressing room after the Watford result.
