Marcelo Bielsa may drop Rodrigo from his Leeds United playing XI should Patrick Bamford return after the international break.

The England attacker has not played a game for the Whites since the September 17 draw against Newcastle and has been ruled out of action for almost a month.

However, on Monday, LeedsLive reported that he is expected back on October 16 which is right in time for the game against Southampton.

Leeds United

Rodrigo was signed once Leeds secured promotion and Bamford was underwhelming in their final season in the Championship.

He considerably underperformed his xG and there was growing frustration among the Elland Road faithful as he was proving to be unreliable in front of goal.

Even despite what he offered off the ball, many wanted him to be dropped and would have been delighted since Rodrigo signed for the club.

But, since Rodrigo's arrival, Bamford's performances have sky-rocketed to such a level that he's now being called up for the national team.

Leeds United

The Spaniard, on the other hand, has played second fiddle to the Englishman, and is yet to see his career in Yorkshire take off.

Jamie Carragher described Rodrigo as “outstanding” during commentary on Sky Sports on September 17 against Newcastle, but we're yet to see him deliver consistently in front of goal.

He also does not offer as much off the ball as Bamford does so the moment the Englishman is fit, Rodrigo will have to make way.
