Andrea Radrizzani on his way out of Leeds United with cash now in place for buy-out

Things are never dull at Leeds United and especially when Andrea Radrizzani is around but his tenure at Elland Road could be nearing its end.

According to The Times, the shareholders of the San Francisco 49ers, who already hold partial ownership of the football club, are looking at potentially completing a full takeover of the Whites.

They already own 44 per cent of Leeds United and there is a deal in place with Radrizzani to make that a full takeover and US banking sources are now saying that such a deal is effectively in place.

The deal would see Radrizzani finally leave the club after years of turmoil and controversial moments as chairman, none more so than the infamous trip to Myanmar in 2018.

The Italian defended his choice to take the squad on a post-season tour of the war-stricken country which saw hundreds of thousands of people flee the country amid human rights abuse at the time.

“I have spent over 10 years living in Asia and Myanmar is a country I have visited on many occasions,” Radrizzani said at the time, as quoted by The Guardian.

“I am aware of the serious issues within the country but I also know that it is a beautiful place filled with incredibly warm and welcoming people.”

Even moving to more recent incidents, Radrizzani hasn’t conducted himself in the way he really should have been with the shambles of a summer he oversaw in 2022.

Not only did he fail to provide Victor Orta with the financial clout to bring in a striker late in the window but he also claimed to have completed the signing of Bamba Dieng without the signature being on the contract.

“Let’s welcome Bamba Dieng and we will continue to work on Gapko,” he tweeted on deadline day. “Now it s time to focus on the pitch and support our new project and the great job Jesse and the staff are doing.”

Leeds could do without the controversy he brings moving forward so if that is a consequence of the takeover then it may well be very much welcomed by the faithful Whites supporters.

In other Leeds United news, talks to sign this Premier League defender suddenly stopped in 2021 when the Whites were leading the race to sign him.
