Phil Hay: Elland Road redevelopment on the cards after Leeds United discussions with ‘major’ firm

Redevelopment of Elland Road could be on the cards for Leeds United, as 49ers Enterprises have already met with a major architectural firm according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist wrote on 29 November that a larger, more modern home for the club is seen as a crucial way of providing greater commercial strength to push up the worth of Leeds United.

Hay reported that, when the takeover was lined up in the summer, it was suggested that more concrete plans for the club could be revealed by the end of the year – a time which is rapidly approaching.

Progress on and off the pitch

While Daniel Farke and his team continue their push for promotion straight back to the Premier League, the 49ers are attempting to ensure progress is made off the pitch as well as on it, securing the infrastructure of the club to boost its opportunities.

A larger and more modern Elland Road could prove a huge boost to the revenue of the club, not only through ticket sales and match-day revenue but also through commercial opportunities involving the stadium and the club such as sponsors and advertisement.

To put it simply, a bigger stadium equals more money for the club. More money equals more investment and thus better opportunities to bring the club forward and build on any success they may bring.

Ensuring the club is in a stronger position off the pitch will prove vital to their progress on it and the long-term security regardless of what Farke and his team can pull off this season. They will be better prepared to profit heavily from potential Premier League involvement.
