Leeds United to confirm appointment of Sam Allardyce on Tuesday – Matt Lawton
Leeds United are set to confirm Sam Allardyce as their new manager on Tuesday as Javi Gracia and Victor Orta have been sacked, according to The Times.
Leeds sit outside the relegation zone with four games to play on goal difference alone following a shocking April that saw them concede 23 goals and lose four of their last five Premier League games.
That has led to the club taking drastic action and sacking the manager despite only hiring him in February, and Allardyce is set to come in for the final four games of the season.
“Allardyce appointment to be confirmed by Leeds United later today,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (2 May).
“Both Gracia and Orta leaving.”
Last hope
It’s crazy to see that Allardyce is apparently the answer to a question in 2023, but that’s where Leeds have managed to get themselves to at this point.
Just over a year ago it was Marcelo Bielsa who was in charge of the football club and we were playing free-flowing, attacking football and going out with all guns blazing.

We’re almost guaranteed to play the complete opposite of that now as we fight for our lives, with our safety no longer in our hands and some horrific games to play.
The sacking of Gracia and Orta are absolute necessities though because both men have totally flopped at their roles in recent times and it seems clear that we need change.
We now must hope and pray that Allardyce can come in and get a bounce from the players to save us, but the club is an absolute joke at this point.
