Leeds United likely ‘keeping a close eye’ on Everton after new Premier League charge
Leeds United are “likely” keeping a close eye on Everton’s latest financial breach and possible second points deduction, with their threat of a potential compensation claim emerging again, according to Leeds Live.
It was reported on 15 January that Leeds, alongside Southampton and Leicester City, had initially delayed their claims due to the ongoing appeal process, but the latest charge could bring their interest back to life.
This is especially the case with Leeds, as the new charge for a second breach directly concerns the season the Yorkshire club were relegated from the Premier League.

Casting a watchful eye
After Everton were initially docked ten points for a breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, Leeds were among clubs threatening to take the Toffees to court as they felt they had been cheated out of a place in the Premier League.
That discussion was halted by the news that Everton would appeal the decision, and Leeds were waiting for a resolution, but after a second charge for a season which directly affects the club, it would not be a shock to see those talks revived.
Both Everton and Nottingham Forest have been charged with new breaches of the profit and sustainability rules, with that investigation set to be concluded and punishments handed out before the end of the current season.

According to initial reports [Daily Mail, 3 October], the three clubs were set to claim a combined £300million in compensation, although it was later reported that they would favour a negotiated settlement [Daily Mail, 1 December].
However, the new breach could change things again.
In other Leeds United news, another key man is likely to follow Luke Ayling out of the door.
