Leeds United expected to begin Elland Road reconstruction work next season amid 49ers and Andrea Radrizzani £170m takeover agreement

Leeds United are expected to begin reconstruction and updating work on Elland Road next season after the 49ers agreed a takeover deal with Andrea Radrizzani.

The Whites were relegated to the Championship which spared a re-negotiation for the ownership of the club, with a new agreement worth £170m agreed on Friday night (9 June).

Now with Paraag Marathe set to take over as chairman of the club, the club are set to finally begin works on their iconic stadium next season.

“The agreement, announced by Leeds on Friday night , means that much-needed reconstruction and updating work at the rather tired Elland Road is expected to begin next season,” The Guardian wrote.

“Reviving, and ultimately expanding, the club’s home has long been the vision of Paraag Marathe, the president of 49ers Enterprises who is set to assume the chairmanship of Leeds.”

Excellent

Many fans and people around the club know that Elland Road has been in need of rejuvenation for a while now, but Radrizzani seemingly had no intention of doing that.

Marathe has been keen to do it for a while, and taking Elland Road into the 21st century properly will be a great way of helping the club get back to its best.

Getting back to the Premier League first will be far better to do it too, because it’s the best league in the world.

But for now the focus has to be on getting back there first and foremost, and to do that we need a new manager and a squad that can compete once we’ve been stripped of our best assets by the big clubs.

Expecting anything less is just unrealistic, but the 49ers clearly have big plans for Leeds as a club going forward and it’s an exciting time to be a fan of this great club.

In other Leeds news, the club have held talks with this former Premier League boss about the vacant manager’s job.
