West Ham United vs Leeds United injury latest as five players could miss out

West Ham United welcome Leeds United to the London Stadium on Sunday as the sides go head-to-head for a spot at Wembley.

Having secured their spots in the FA Cup quarter-finals via wins against Brentford and Norwich City respectively, the pair return from the international break to seal a semi-final spot over Easter Weekend.

Alongside this, both Daniel Farke and Nuno Espirito Santo's respective sides are locked in a battle at the wrong end of the Premier League - battling to stay above the same safety line alongside Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.

Speaking at his press conference on Thursday, Whites boss Farke provided an update on the fitness of his squad following the culmination of the recent pause, with multiple names potentially absent on the trip to the capital.

Daniel Farke outlines question mark ahead of West Ham cup tie

Following his return to the England setup, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the one man who will be on the minds of Leeds fans over the weekend, after a big question mark was placed above his head as Farke spoke to the media on Thursday.

“Dominic ended yesterday’s training session earlier because he felt some hamstring problems. Same today, not involved so a question mark behind his availability," said the Leeds boss.

“Hopefully just a minor problem,” he added later on.

“Lots of travelling, different circumstances, sometimes it can happen. Yesterday in training, he felt a little problem with his hamstring and didn’t want to risk anything. 

“Today, we decided to scan him as a precaution. I hope he’s back in team training tomorrow, but we have to assess him. I hope he’s with us on Sunday.”

Calvert-Lewin is therefore considered a major doubt to face West Ham.

Alongside a few minor knocks here and there, Anton Stach was also confirmed to have been struggling with hip problems following his Germany return, though Farke said "that shouldn't be a problem."

Elsewhere, defender Gabriel Gudmundsson will return from his suspension, after missing Leeds' last match against Brentford before the international break, returning in high spirits following Sweden's dramatic World Cup qualification.

Noah Okafor could also feature, after not being risked by Switzerland, as he gets back up to fitness.

For West Ham, former Leeds man Crysencio Summerville is improving, but will likely not return until West Ham's league clash with Wolves - a big boost for Leeds.

Jean-Clair Todibo is being assessed following a calf strain, while experienced goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski remains out with a back injury.

FA Cup clash could have long-term consequences for both teams

Heading into the weekend, both Leeds and West Ham know that Sunday's clash carries much bigger implications than simply securing a cup passage.

Both fighting for the same patch of land in the league, Farke and Nuno know that a win could severely impact the other.

Both sides stumbled before the break, and are looking to get back to winning ways - particularly given the recent form of Nottingham Forest, and Tottenham's appointment of Roberto De Zerbi.

A Wembley reward would be fantastic for Whites fans, though the momentum gained alongside as a result could be vitally important as Leeds look to secure their top-flight status.
