Noah Okafor has provided an update on his fitness after recent injury concerns for the Leeds United forward while away with Switzerland.

The 25-year-old was called up for international duty, but did not feature either in the 4-3 loss to Germany or the 0-0 draw with Norway, sparking fears of another setback following his return from a hamstring issue.

The Whites find themselves locked in a tense battle to remain in the Premier League, with a big FA Cup quarter-final against West Ham approaching on Sunday too.

Daniel Farke will be looking to have every member of his squad fit for a crucial run to the season's end, and will be desperate to see the Swiss attacker back on the pitch at Elland Road in the coming days and weeks.

Noah Okafor shares injury update after Switzerland return

Joining the club from AC Milan over the summer, Okafor has struggled to maintain fitness across the second half of the campaign, but a return to the Swiss national team brought about positive signs.

After missing both matches against Germany and Norway, the attacker took to social media, confirming that a decision was made not to risk his fitness so soon after returning during Leeds' 0-0 draw with Brentford.

"That was great fun," said Okafor on his Instagram story.

"Very grateful for this week with the national team. Gave everything on and off the training pitch to support the team.

"Of course, I would have liked to play too, but so soon after my injury, we decided not to take any risks. Thank you - hope to see you very soon."

With Farke potentially sweating over the forward's fitness, there will be a sigh of relief around Elland Road, with the decision appearing to be precautionary rather than pointing in the direction of another issue.

Leeds handed timely boost ahead of Premier League run-in

For the Whites, they enter the final weeks of the season with the goal of securing their top-flight future.

With an FA Cup quarter-final against West Ham on Sunday, Farke's side have a big opportunity to get back to form after the stumble heading into the international break.

They would gain confidence not just from a win, but a win of such magnitude, with a spot at Wembley on the line.

Noah Okafor stats

Joining the club from AC Milan last summer, Okafor has played 24 out of 31 matches in the league, starting 15 times.

While he is far from the first name on the teamsheet, he brings pace and energy to the side, while Leeds struggled in front of goal across the weeks leading up to the break.

Farke will require every member of his squad to be fit and ready for the run-in, and he has received a timely boost with the Swiss attacker.
