‘Dreadful’ – Roy Keane and Micah Richards slaughter Leeds United performance v Aston Villa
Roy Keane and Micah Richards were not impressed by the level of performance from either team in Leeds United’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.
The Whites took to the pitch for the first time in almost a month and looked rusty as both sides failed to break the deadlock in a game that was littered with fouls and saw Luis Sinisterra sent off for two silly yellow cards.
And speaking during the half-time break live on Sky Sports [17:26, 2 October] neither of the two well recognised pundits were happy with what they had seen with Keane describing it as “dreadful”.

“There’s a bit of needle going on but in terms of quality it’s been dreadful,” Keane said. “Really, really, poor. One or two half chances, but really poor from both sides.”
“Roy’s right,” Richards responded. “The game hasn’t been that great.
“Sometimes you lose your flow though, obviously with games being cancelled. But it’s not been the most entertaining game if we’re being honest.
“Leeds have had more possession in the game but they’re lacking something. I don’t know if they need the fans on side, but they’re really lacking quality.”
Poor
I mean, they’re not wrong are they?
The first half in particular was a real let down, with the team having had a nice break from the schedule meaning they should have been ready to come flying out of the blocks.

Instead though they looked rusty and leggy and ultimately they really lacked the quality to be able to break down an Aston Villa defence that was makeshift due to injuries.
Jesse Marsch won’t hate the result because after playing for around 40 minutes with ten men getting a point is good, but they should have done far more in the first half to try and claim three points. Having one shot on target at home over 90 minutes isn’t good enough.
Ultimately though it’s a point earned for the Whites and the squad must look forward to the next clash against Crystal Palace next weekend having put a stop to their winless streak.
