Lazio to explore new signings within hours as Leeds United star Willy Gnonto emerges on shortlist
Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto has emerged as a transfer target for Serie A outfit Lazio in the January transfer window as they are looking to explore new signings in the coming hours, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian news outlet reported on 21 January [page 18] that Gnonto’s name emerged as a possible target at the end of 2023, with Maurizio Sarri keen on adding a winger to his squad.
It is said Gnonto could leave Leeds this winter, with Bryan Gil of Tottenham and Antonio Candreva of Salernitana joining the winger on the list of potential targets.
Leeds should look to hold on to Gnonto
Despite the surprising lack of game time the Italian has received under Daniel Farke so far this season, Leeds should be looking to keep hold of him for at least the rest of the season, as his quality could still play a key role in their push for promotion this season.
A move back to his native Italy after leaving Inter Milan in a move to Zurich and later to Leeds could appeal to him to get himself back in contention for the national team ahead of the Euros this summer.

Gnonto remains one of the most exciting and talented players at Elland Road and showed what he could do in the Premier League last season which inspired huge waves of interest in his signature, so for him to remain at the club would be a huge boost.
The Italian has started just seven Championship games so far this season, with Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville the first-choice options, averaging just 34 minutes per game from a total of 21 appearances under Farke.
