Daniel Farke gets his wish as Leeds enter advanced talks for £8m+ transfer
Isaac Schmidt may have played his last game for Leeds United.
Since winning promotion from the Championship, Leeds have made significant progress in the summer transfer window.
However, the Whites will be well aware of the fact that there is still a lot of work to be done before they make their return to the Premier League in just over two weeks.
With that in mind, it seems as though Schmidt’s exit from Elland Road could be edging closer, with Leeds now in talks with his potential replacement.

Leeds progressing in talks for Mattia Zanotti transfer
Leeds have already bolstered their full-back options with the signing of Gabriel Gudmundsson this summer, and they are looking to do that again.
The Whites are said to be in advanced talks with Lugano for the signing of Mattia Zanotti, who could leave for a fee upwards of £8million, according to Lorenzo Lepore via X (1 August).
Daniel Farke was believed to have been wanting a replacement for Schmidt before sanctioning his exit, and it seems the German is set to get his wish.
Lugano | Games | Goals | Assists |
Zanotti | 41 | 2 | 9 |
Zanotti registered 11 goal contributions from full back for Lugano last season, and at 22 years old, still has plenty of time to develop even further.
Fulham and AS Monaco are also said to be keen on the Italian, but are believed to be in the background of the talks with Leeds.
Farke needs solid depth at Leeds
Full back is arguably Leeds’ weakest area of the team when it comes to depth, with the attacking department also in need of some attention.
The signing of a striker will be prioritised, but attention will quickly turn to the general squad, which does need some added depth.
Leeds United face Everton when they return to competitive action, and will hope to have several new faces through the door by then.
