Tyler Adams tips Georginio Rutter to shine at Leeds United as Thorp Arch reveal shared
Tyler Adams has been wowed by Georginio Rutter during Leeds United training and has backed the 20-year-old to be a success at Elland Road.
The club record signing was handed a start against Fulham in the FA Cup and produced a lively display at Craven Cottage.
Talking to BBC Radio Leeds, the American international revealed how he had previously noticed Rutter during his time in the Bundesliga.

“Against Accrington Stanley, I could see right away he has the qualities to succeed here. I had the opportunity to play against him in the Bundesliga. I was always wondering who is this kid, where is he from? I see it in training,” said Adams (2m 43s, BBC Radio Leeds, 1 March).
“He’s comfortable under pressure, he can play with both feet. He’s not afraid to go at you. That’s the kind of attacker you want, you want guys that are going to keep defenders on their heels. He’s going to be an important player for us.”
Exciting
It’s clear to see Rutter is a raw talent but it will take time for him to adjust to life in the Premier League. Against Fulham, he was deployed in a central role and produced a couple of promising moments. However, at times, it was evident that the physicality of the central defenders was perhaps too much for him.
It’s an area he will improve on and it’s important to remember that he’s only 20. There’s plenty of time for him to develop and if Leeds can maintain their Premier League status, he could be a crucial player going forward. It will be interesting to see how Javi Gracia sets his team up against Chelsea.

Patrick Bamford was disappointing in the FA Cup defeat, which could lead to Rutter being given another chance to lead the line. The trip back to West London is going to be a tough test, but there’s a real chance of Leeds picking up at least a draw. Graham Potter is a man under pressure and the longer it remains goalless, the better for Gracia’s men. Back-to-back clean sheets would be a seriously impressive start.
