‘That’s a certainty’ – Richard Keys and Andy Gray make big Leeds United prediction

Richard Keys and Andy Gray conducted a big interview with Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani this week and there were a number of interesting takeouts.

Radrizzani talked about his hope that Marcelo Bielsa would stay at Leeds for a “long time” but he added that the club and Bielsa would decide year-by-year what would happen.

“I hope he can stay with us a long time but we like to decide year-by-year,” Radrizzani said. “He is not a young manager, he’s 65 and his wife is in Argentina.”

The other interesting snippet came at the end of the interview when Radrizzani said he “hoped” that Leeds wouldn’t get into Europe this season.

English isn’t his first language but he seemed to be saying that Leeds aren’t ready for such a big step yet.

“It’s a bit too early, everything comes at the right time,” Radrizzani said.

He said his big hope was that Leeds would stay in the Premier League and that led both Gray and Keys to make a big prediction.

“That’s a certainty. You’re not going anywhere,” said Keys.

“I have to agree”, Gray replied.

Radz talks a good game

Sensible stuff from Radrizzani and he really tempered the wild optimism from some quarters that Leeds could challenge for Europe this season.

It’s all about taking sensible steps at the right time and Radrizzani is targeting Europe in about three years.

His last three-year-plan worked out well, as he got Leeds out of the Championship and into the Premier League.

Games against Liverpool and Man City have got some fans very excited. However, the games against Wolves and Leicester should have been enough to bring them down to earth.

Crystal Palace will try to do the same this Saturday – to sit back and soak up the pressure before hitting Leeds on the counter through Wilfried Zaha.

Leeds need to learn how to play against teams like this more effectively.

As for what Keys and Gray said, call us superstitious but we don’t like predictions with the word “certainty” in. All we’ll say is we very much hope they’re right.

If you look at the bottom of the table there are definitely much worse teams than Leeds down there.
