Phil Hay shares what he keeps getting told about injured Leeds ace Adam Forshaw
Injured Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw is “close” to a return to full fitness, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.
Forshaw, 28, has not played for Leeds since September due to a hip injury and Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that the midfielder will not be ready to play against Cardiff at Elland Road this weekend.
Bielsa’s update on Forshaw led to a lot of concern among some fans on Twitter, with a few even claiming that the former Middlesbrough player should be sold.
However, former Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Hay has offered what seems to be a positive update on Forshaw ahead of the hectic festive schedule.
“There’s still no Forshaw [against Cardiff], who I keep getting told is close,” said Hay on the Phil Hay Show, via Spotify [6m1s].
“He was out training when the Under-23s were playing, on his own but doing some fitness work and seemed to be miles away. He isn’t quite there.”
Forshaw has had rotten luck with injuries in his time at Leeds.
He joined the Whites from Boro in January 2018 but has only managed 52 appearances across all competitions then with him having to endure several spells on the sidelines.
This season’s setback has certainly been the lengthiest for Forshaw, who impressed Leeds fans with some decent displays at the start of the campaign.
Hopefully he is back to full fitness soon to help out during a period of the campaign when fixtures come at you thick and fast.
Bielsa only has a small squad at his disposal so having as many players fit and ready as possible is bound to help out in the club’s push for automatic promotion.
