Phil Hay: Leeds United squad still believes in Marcelo Bielsa despite poor run of form

The Leeds United squad still have big confidence in the methods of Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League, according to Phil Hay.

Despite injuries ravaging the squad and form hitting an all-time low this week, the players are still backing El Loco.

Hay insisted that the squad believe the injuries are the biggest thing to blame regarding the lack of positive results so far this season.

Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Hay shared how the squad is viewing the current run of form in the Premier League.

“It is worth saying here that where the players themselves are concerned, they also see injuries as the biggest influence on the campaign,” he wrote.

“Their trust in Bielsa appears to be safely intact and most of them feel that, more than anything else, the absence of a settled squad has held them back.”

Never in doubt.

Those who suggest in the media that the Leeds squad have lost faith or they aren’t playing for the manager anymore are simply embarrassing.

No one in the Premier League is going through the worst crisis right now, whether through COVID-19 or injuries.

It is getting that bad at Leeds that teams who are having games postponed due to COVID have more players available but still don’t have to play.

What is Bielsa meant to do? We know him as a miracle worker but even this one is beyond him when going up against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

Things will get better, that is for sure and hopefully we can start welcoming back some new faces in the coming weeks – we all need it.
