Phil Hay: Leeds confident form will pick up when injured players return

Phil Hay has shared that Leeds United are confident behind-the-scenes that form will pick up once their injured players return.

The Whites are still without the likes of Patrick Bamford, Luke Ayling, Junior Firpo and Robin Koch in their first team.

Despite that, Leeds picked up a majorly important three points last time out against Norwich, leaving Carrow Road with a 2-1 victory.

Writing in the comments section of his latest piece for The Athletic,

“The attitude of the club is very much that the team will play better when key players return from injury (for a sustained period) and individual form picks up,” he said.

“One of the main messages from yesterday (Sunday) and Wolves is that the players are fighting for this – in comparison to Norwich who really looked like they threw the towel in at 2-1.”

Big problem.

We are praying that these injury issues are solved sooner rather than later.

Leicester are the visitors to Elland Road on Sunday, and after that, there is another international break and a two-week break for our injured players.

The likes of Rodrigo and Jamie Shackleton have done well in the absence of some big names, but Ayling and Bamford have been huge misses.

Bielsa would still likely use Rodrigo behind Bamford when both are available, but Shackleton would drop down to the bench.

Firpo returning could happen this weekend against Leicester, and that could allow Stuart Dallas to move back into midfield.

All of these players returning would open so many more doors for the Whites, and hopefully, that can happen sooner rather than later.
