Phil Hay: 49ers could complete Leeds takeover before 2024, Andrea Radrizzani to stick around
Phil Hay has shared that the 49ers could take complete control of Leeds United earlier than the 2024 deadline.
Reporting for The Athletic, alongside David Ornstein, it was shared that the 49ers Enterprise can complete a deal worth up to £475million before that year.
Hay has been told that Andrea Radrizzani could retain a minority stake in the club he has transformed since 2017 after he completed the purchase from Massimo Cellino.

Writing in The Athletic this morning (6th December) Hay shared what he’s heard alongside Ornstein about the ongoing takeover.
“Though January 2024 has been set as the deadline for the transition, sources have told The Athletic that a buy-out is likely to come sooner.
“It is possible that Radrizzani will retain a small minority stake.”

Get it done.
Radrizzani has delivered Premier League football back to Elland Road, and everyone will remember him for the role he played in that.
Having said that, there are times in football where transitions need to happen and this looks like the logical next step.
The 49ers value the Whites at upwards of £500million, which is a huge amount compared to the £45million Radrizzani spent to take control back in 2017 [YEP].
Given that Radz has needed investment in separate instalments from the 49ers in recent years, it looks as though he is coming to the end of being able to pump millions into the club in each transfer window.
Paraag Marathe clearly shares the same ambition as Radrizzani, but he will have the mighty financial power of the 49ers to help with that, and we already can’t wait for that.
